1966 Buick Skylark GS - (built 1994)

I restored this original AMT '66 Buick Skylark GS back in 1994. I got lucky and bought it from a club member for a really good price. It was a really cherry original model that had never been painted and was in near perfect shape. After dissembly there were just a few glue spots to clean up on the body and it was ready for paint. The chrome was pretty dull though so I decided to strip it , remove the mold lines and then it was all sent out and rechromed by Chrome-Tech. For paint I applyed a coat of Dupli-color primer and then the body was airbrushed with a correct factory metallic red lacquer. Then the body was polished and hand rubbed to acheive a nice authentic finish that is not overly glossy. Other details I added were hand painted red-line tires and valve stems on the wheels. I also made photo-reduced license plates from an actual set of 1966 Ohio plates that a happen to have and then they were finished off with a set of photo-etched frames.
