Ralph Maltby's 1994 SCCA Solo II Autocross ESP As a professional model car builder, I built this replica of Ralph Maltby's '94 ESP Mustang Cobra R in 1/25th scale. After his daughter won the ESPL class championship at the '97 SCCA Solo II Nationals, he commissioned me to build this model for him. I built the model by combining parts of AMT/Ertl's '94 Mustang and '95 Cobra kits. To create the Cobra R hood, I built up several layers of bondo and then ground it down to the correct shape. The same technique was done to replicate the Sparco racing seats. The wheels are from a Fujimi wheel kit and the tires were turned on a lathe to replicate the wear common to autocross tires. At the bottom is a picture of the real car.
